I am an artist and a writer in Portland, OR. After receiving a Bachelor’s of Architecture from the University of Southern California and attending the Art Student’s League, I decided to become a full time artist when my wife and I moved to Portland five years ago.
I am a writer for the online arts journal PORT (http://www.portlandart.net). I have written reviews on the Brice Marden Retrospective at the San Francisco Museum of Art, Richard Serra’s Forty Years at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and Robert Irwin’s Primaries and Secondaries at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego. I have also been fortunate enough to interview Terry Winters, Carl Andre, and Ed Ruscha.
My work as an artist is about the way paintings can transform space. Over the last year, I have tried to simplify my paintings as much as possible so that when a person looks at my work they encouraged to be mindful of their own experience. Ideally, the work brings you back to yourself and reminds of the present moment.
